No sir, I don't like it.

1. But Why?

This is pretty hard to pin down. I think it's a multi-faceted issue.

It feels flat
There isn't enough distinction between list items, tap-able things, labels.
Poor use of space

There is a huge loss of usable space to "padding". A good example of this is the "Settings" app in android.

When you first open "Settings" the first 1/5th of the screen is completely empty. Then each "list" item has a huge amount of padding-top and padding-bottom (to borrow some terminology from CSS).

iOS has a similar "gap" at the top of the settings page, but it's smaller and feels less "wasteful". I think because the following list of settings is far more compact.
